POSTER CONTEST
"CELEBRATING CANADA 150"
Contestants are challenged to exercise their creativity and submit a poster on the theme of “Celebrating Canada 150” in either colour or black and white.
This is a contest to select the most suitable posters submitted by students in the Canadian school system.
A plaque will be awarded to the 1st place winner in each category, and to the 1st place winners’ schools.
Prizes will be awarded on the recommendation of the judges, whose decision will be final.
On notification of having been selected as a winner, the artist agrees to the full and exclusive non-profit use of the art by Kiddo Magazine for the period of one year, after which all rights for usage revert to the artist.

LITERACY CONTEST

REGULATIONS
- All entries to be submitted before May 30th.
- Entries will be no larger than 11 inches x 17 inches in size.
- Please use only the following for the contest entered:
Colour poster: Full colour
Black and White: Pencil, charcoal and/or India Ink. - Candidates must complete a Registration Form, available HERE and attach it to their entry (no staples please).
- Entries will be judged on originality, expression of designated subject drawing and llustration.
- The poster shall reflect “CELEBRATING CANADA 150” theme. Canadian symbols such as Canadian and provincial flags, coats of arms, and representative flowers, birds or animals, as well as all forms of Canadian historical and current military dress may be used.
- COMPUTER GENERATED ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
- Contestants may enter both a Colour and a Black and White Poster, but may submit only one entry for each.
- 1st place winner posters will be published on the summer special issue. 1st 2nd and 3rd place winners in all categories will be displayed at the “Canada is” expo at Mississauga and Toronto (dates to be announced). All artwork will be returned to the artists after its display.
- A representative from the school (teacher, principal, etc) will collect all entries. Kiddo Magazine will collect them at each school.
REGULATIONS
- All entries to be submitted before May 30th.
- Entries may be submitted in English, French or Spanish.
- Please use only the following for the contest entered:
Essay: Junior Category (Grades 4, 5 ,6) Candidates will submit a composition in prose of not more than 350 words. Intermediate Category (Grades 7, 8): Candidates will submit a composition in prose of not more than 500 words
Poem: Junior Category (Grades 4, 5 ,6): Maximun of 32 lines. Intermediate Category (Grades 7, 8): Maximun of 32 lines. - Candidates must complete a Registration Form, available HERE and attach it to their entry (no staples please).
- Entries will be marked on the basis of originality of thought, expression, presentation, grammar, spelling and Canadian content.
- The essay/poem shall reflect “CELEBRATING CANADA 150” theme.
- Candidates will use only one side of the page. Entries must not exceed the word or line limit.
- Contestants may submit an Essay and a Poem, but may submit only one entry for each category.
